There’s a lot that goes into making a game. There’s even more that goes into making a game successful, and that success comes down to marketing. Upptic’s Co-Founder and CGO Warren Woodward goes a bit into what the Upptic approach is, our mindset behind it, and why we genuinely love doing what we do.
The greatest game in the world isn’t going to amount to much if no one has heard of it. But just like creating a game, marketing is an art all its own, and understanding that takes dedication. At Upptic, we’ve taken an approach we call the “Three Pillars of Growth”: User Acquisition, Creative Development, and Predictive Analytics.
-User Acquisition is the operational piece that gets things moving. It’s a bit like pulling the levers of a big marketing machine, steering campaigns in the right direction.
-Creative Development is the heart and soul of what we’re pushing out into the world. It excites people, not only showcasing a game and its offerings, but generating enthusiasm as well.
-Predictive Analytics is where we apply real-world data to anticipate future trends and interpret what we’re seeing to better inform our next moves.
Sure, these things are all important on their own, but they’re even stronger and more valuable together. During design sessions, the creative team will assist the engineering team in co-developing the software. Engineering works with our user acquisitions team to create better ways of understanding and utilizing the data we gather. While user acquisitions works closely with the creative team to find out what’s successful based on that real data, which informs the creative team of what steps to take next.
The strength of Upptic’s approach comes from everyone understanding what each unique skill set brings to the table and working together to create a more cohesive whole.
The driving force behind all of this is the genuine pride our team gets out of what we do. We feel a very real sense of enjoyment and excitement to not only work with large companies on huge game titles, but to work with smaller teams as well. Upptic started a little over five years ago and our first client is still with us. When they joined us, they were a small team with a small game, and now it’s become one of the most successful games in the world. Watching these fantastic games go from small releases to chart-topping hits is an amazing feeling.
One thing we’ve found over the years is that no matter what gets shown to the public, no one, and no game studio, is perfect. As has been said time and again, none of us can do it alone, but the chaos and messiness of it is where we thrive. We are here to help, and genuinely enjoy doing so. We have a dedicated group that is committed and passionate about going all-in.
Each and every day we get to work on video games, making those games successful, and helping the developers of these amazing titles thrive. This may have started as a dream for Warren, but the Upptic members who have been around since the beginning, as well as those who have joined along the way, share it. Lives have changed, journeys have started, and at the core of it all is the strong community we’ve developed with not only our clients, but each other.
And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
