Due to a number of factors – such as web3 gaming being increasingly accepted on major app stores, games with functional and sustainable F2P funnels, and a new round of vigorous VC capital funding – web3 games are poised to hit higher adoption than ever at a rate not yet seen in the web3 games space. And one big growth hack for web3 games publishing will make it all possible.

What is this new web3 gaming growth hack?

What is this growth hack strategy? Quite simply, it’s affordably onboarding mobile gamers through traditional performance-based user acquisition. Depending on your background (mobile gaming vs. blockchain gaming), this strategy might sound either obvious or impossible. Logistically, web3 gaming has not been able to do this until recently due to technological and regulatory limitations in measurement, attribution, advertising, and app store inclusion.

But Heroes of Mavia has proven that this strategy can now work – and that it’s worth every penny. They have managed to quickly acquire over 1 million players – which is a huge feat in and of itself in web3 gaming. While they are the first to really push this strategy in web3, don’t expect them to be the last.

Important web3 growth hack takeaways

If you’re looking to replicate this strategy for your own, here are a couple of noteworthy takeaways: First, Heroes of Mavia focused their user acquisition strategy on countries with a very low cost-per-install (CPI) – like India and Pakistan. Second, Heroes of Mavia launched their mobile UA strategy in conjunction with their token launch. This created an attractive web3 narrative of mainstream adoption – which pushed the value of the $MAVIA token up and up during its launch.

This is a super smart move on Heroes of Mavia‘s part. By overlapping their token launch with a gigantic paid UA push, the studio was able to notch two wins on two fronts at the same time. First, as a “traditional” F2P mobile game they have generated roughly $200K in regular in-app purchase (IAP) revenue – which is not insignificant. Second, they were able to create a $2B+ market cap on their token because of the “strong growth” narrative they were able to establish.

Because of the dual successes this strategy provides, expect to see it replicated all over web3 gaming sooner rather than later.
